Warranty Terms and Conditions:

Strathedin Worktops offers a limited warranty starting from the original date of purchase for any quartz material installed in a single-family residence that exhibits defects due to manufacturing issues for a period of ten (10) years. This warranty applies exclusively to materials that have been correctly fabricated and installed by a certified or licensed installer. The warranty is valid only for the original purchaser in a single-family residence and is not transferable. Customers must approve slabs prior to fabrication. Any dissatisfaction with the color or finish after installation is not covered by this warranty. Additionally, Strathedin Worktops is not liable for any labor costs related to the installation of replacement materials, which are also excluded from this warranty.

Warranty Exclusions:

The limited warranty does not apply to damages resulting from:

• Commercial use or purposes
• Labor, installation, or improper care and maintenance
• Modifications, alterations, repairs, or services performed by anyone other than a licensed installer
• Exposure to extreme heat or weather conditions
• Post-installation dissatisfaction with color or finish choices
• Physical damage such as scratches, chips, impacts, or cutting
• Structural movement causing product failure
• Freight and transportation-related issues

Strathedin Worktops offers a 10-year structural warranty for quartz slabs. We guarantee that the structural integrity of the product will remain intact under normal usage for a period of 10 years from the date of purchase. To initiate a warranty claim, notification must be provided as soon as the issue arises, and no later than one (1) year from the date of installation. Valid proof of purchase, a detailed description of the problem, and photographs of the defect must be submitted. Claims should be emailed to info@strathedinworktops.com.

Important Note:

This warranty is non-transferable and is valid only for the original purchaser. Strathedin Worktops does not authorize any other entity or individual to assume any responsibility on behalf of the company regarding quartz products. This warranty supersedes all other warranties, whether expressed or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Care & Maintenance of Quartz Surfaces

Routine Cleaning

– For daily cleaning, use a soft cloth or sponge with a mild soap (such as dishwashing liquid) and water to wipe down your Quartz surface. It’s important to quickly clean up spills from liquids, oils, and grease to prevent staining.

– To ensure a thorough clean, use a non-abrasive cleaner alongside a soft cloth or sponge, then dry the surface fully with a towel or paper towel.

– Always protect the surface by using a cutting board when chopping or slicing to prevent scratches.

– Protect your Quartz surface from direct heat by using trivets or pads under hot items like pots, pans, and kettles.

Deep Cleaning and Spot Removal

– For tougher stains, apply a mild detergent that is free from acids and bleach to the stained area and let it sit for a few minutes.

– Gently scrub the area using a soft, non-abrasive cleaning pad in circular motions.

– Rinse thoroughly with water and repeat the process if necessary. Ensure the area is completely dried afterward.

Removing Stubborn Materials (gum, paint, adhesive, etc.)

– Carefully scrape off sticky or stubborn materials with a sharp blade, such as a utility knife or razor blade, being cautious not to damage the surface.

– After scraping, clean the area with water and soap.

– If residue persists, repeat the process, making sure not to scratch the Quartz surface.

Important Safety Considerations

– **DO NOT** apply sealants or waxes to Quartz surfaces. *Strathedin Worktops Quartz* surfaces are naturally non-porous and do not require sealing.

– **AVOID** using harsh scrubbers such as steel wool or strong chemical agents like bleach or ammonia, as they may damage the surface.

– **ALWAYS** clean off any chemicals used with water and mild soap to prevent lingering residues.

– **DO NOT** cut food directly on the Quartz surface; always use a cutting board to protect both the Quartz and your knives.

– **NEVER** place hot items like pots or pans directly on the surface, as extreme heat can cause cracks or discoloration over time. Use heat-protective pads or trivets instead.

– Minimize exposure to direct sunlight as UV rays can lead to fading or discoloration over time.

Avoid abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals, as overuse may compromise the integrity and lifespan of the product. For best results, follow the recommended care guidelines provided above and pay special attention to the cautionary notes.

General Guidelines

*Strathedin Worktops Quartz* surfaces should be installed as a floating system, meaning that no planks should be permanently fixed to the subfloor with adhesives or nails. It’s essential to ensure door frames are properly undercut for a smooth installation. Avoid installing cabinets or islands directly on the floating quartz floor to allow room for expansion. When installing transition strips and baseboards, be cautious to avoid pinning down the quartz, which may cause the material to buckle or separate over time.

Suitable Surfaces

Quartz surfaces can be installed over lightly textured or porous surfaces as long as they are dry, solid, and clean. This includes cured concrete floors (allowed to dry for at least 60 days) or wood subfloors with an added layer of plywood. Ensure that any surface is free from dust and debris prior to installation. Quartz is also compatible with radiant floor heating systems, though the temperature should not exceed 85°F (20°C).

Unsuitable Surfaces

Avoid installing quartz on rough or uneven surfaces such as carpet or uneven tile. The quartz surface may reflect the imperfections beneath it, leading to a distorted appearance. Areas prone to flooding, damp conditions, or intense sun exposure are not suitable for quartz installation, as these factors could damage the material over time.

Substrate Preparation

Although quartz is resistant to moisture, excess moisture in the subfloor can lead to mold and mildew growth. If you’re installing over concrete, a vapor barrier (typically a plastic sheet between 4 to 6 millimeters thick) must be laid down to prevent moisture penetration. However, on wood subfloors, a vapor barrier is unnecessary. Ensure the substrate is smooth, dry, and free from any imperfections before proceeding with the installation.

Tools & Materials

You will need the following tools: utility knife, spacers, measuring tape, pencil, ruler, and safety goggles.

Installation Steps

1. Starting the Installation: Begin in a corner of the room. Lay the first plank with the tongue facing the wall, ensuring you leave a gap of about 8-12 mm (5/16 in to 3/8 in) between the plank and the wall to allow for expansion.
2. Joining Planks: For the second plank, insert the tongue of the new plank into the groove of the first plank at an angle of about 15-20 degrees. Lower it gently until it clicks into place. Ensure that all edges are aligned.
3. Continuing Installation: Continue this process with the first row. When you reach the last plank, measure, score, and cut it to fit properly, then install it like the others.
4. Next Rows: Start each new row with the leftover cut plank from the previous row to stagger the joints. Each piece should be at least 8 inches long, with an offset of 16 inches between joints.
5. Attaching Rows: Once a row is complete, tilt and connect the side tongue of the first plank in the new row into the side groove of the previous row. Continue assembling planks row by row until complete.
6. Final Row: For the last row, measure and cut the planks to fit against the wall, while ensuring you maintain an expansion gap.

Special Considerations

– Make sure to trim door frames to allow the quartz planks to fit underneath without issue.

– Leave space around heating vents and other protrusions to accommodate natural expansion.

– Use quarter-round molding to cover any gaps between the floor and walls.

Care & Maintenance

Regularly sweep the floor to remove dust and debris, and use a damp mop or cloth for routine cleaning. Avoid excessive moisture during cleaning, and never use harsh chemicals or wax, which could dull the finish of the quartz.

CAUTION: Quartz floors can become slippery when wet. Do not use abrasive cleaners or tools that may scratch the surface, and protect the floor from sharp objects and heavy furniture. Ensure furniture legs have protective pads to prevent indentations and scratches.

However, the warranty covers only material defects and does not include labor costs or damages caused by improper installation, misuse, or neglect. Claims must be filed with proof of purchase, and the product must have been installed according to the provided guidelines.
